Theme Thursday - Beach Skinny

Sorry I've been such a slacker lately! I have been working on lots of DT stuff that I can't show you yet. :( I should be done soon tho, and back to having some fun with challenges.

I decided to take a break today and make something for Theme Thursday. Any time there is a Beach theme, I always reach for my Oxford Impressions By the Sea plate. I love these stamps!

Created ByHand - Letter of the Alphabet

Oooh, I had a happy mail day today! I got my new Marie Antoinette rubber stamps from Oxford Impressions! I put off making my Created Byhand challenge until I got them - I knew exactly what I wanted to do. For my background, I did the Faux Designer Paper technique from Technique Junkies. I used another Junkies tech - Faux Chipboard - for the initial. I embellished my queenly 4x4 with trim and a crown from RockCandy studios.

You NEED to get these stamps! I can't wait to play with them this week!

House Bank

I made this today for a swap on the CC Swaps group. The theme was Money For a Rainy Day. We were supposed to make a bank that could only be opened by destroying it! I got my lovely heart shaped bank from Sweet Pea a couple (?) weeks ago and have been putting all my spare change in it. I hope Tamara (my swap partner) likes hers!

This started as a paper mache house that I bought around Halloween. I meant to make a haunted house and never got around to it. I covered it with various vintage papers and then added trim from RockCandy Studios. Stamps are from Time to Stamp/I Brake for Stamps, Oxford Impressions, and Lasting Impressions with Panache. The hole for the money is in the top of the chimney. She can look thru the windows and watch her money adding up, but she can't get to it!

Theme Thursday - Game Pieces

I'm so glad this theme came along - I had this card half done and was just about to abandon it, but the Game Pieces theme inspired me to finish it up. This is another Block Collage technique from Technique Junkies. I paired it with stamps from various Time to Stamp/I Brake for Stamps plates.

Wednesday Stamper - Hearts

I have really gotten out of the habit of participating in challenges, so I'm trying to force myself to get back into it. Today's Wednesday Stamper challenge was a tough one for me - use hearts in a different way. I started and discarded a few ideas before settling on this.

I have been dying to use some Faux Felt that I made this past weekend with my friends. This is a really fun technique from the latest Technique Junkie newsletter. I added some gesso, a torn French book page, some trim and stamps from Oxford Impressions. Oh, and I have been dying to use this gold thread that I've had for ages. Since the Created Byhand challenge was Gold, I thought that I would try it on this card and I love it!

If you can't tell, my hearts are bound together with the gold thread to make a little flower. Hope everyone is having a great week!

Technique Junkies - Block Collage

This technique is from the latest Technique Junkie newsletter. It's one of my faves! It works perfectly with this set of Artistic Outpost stamps. Lots of their stamps are really perfect for this technique! I think this would be a perfect card for Father's Day or a masculine birthday.

Quick & Trashy

I was trying to get my studio in some kind of order today and came across some paper I'd been saving to use for Work Sheet Wonders. I love this concept - it's a great way to recycle and also get some fun backgrounds you'd probably never come up with if you tried. Check out this post on Trish Bee's blog for more info.

I cut my piece down to a skinny size and added a bit more ink and some stamps from Time to Stamp/I Brake for Stamps. Now....back to work. :-(
